Call open for applications for a research grant (Bolsa de Investigação, BI) within the scope of project POPSTAR: Public Opinion and Sentiment Tracking, Analysis and Research.
Scientific Area: Computer Science / Informatics Engineering
Activity Outline: The research activities involve the development opinion mining tools capable of identifying opinion polarity in social media and online news, specifically designed for the political domain. The development of such tools comprises three main challenges: i) automatically identifying and separating opinions from factual information, ii) identifying the sentiment in the opinionated contents (i.e., opinion polarity and intensity), and iii) aggregating the overall sentiment about a given topic or political entity.
Work place: The research work will be conducted at the Informatics Engineering Department of University of Porto, Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), under the supervision of Prof. Eduarda Mendes Rodrigues
