The Doctoral Program in Civil and Environmental Engineering (EDCE) offered at EPFL is a multi-disciplinary program designed to face up to the most important challenge of our time: guaranteeing a sustainable environment, with a creative interaction between science and engineering. Please consider also that EPFL is ranked as the top university in continental Europe in the area of engineering.
Within this program, we want to generate a lively and proactive community of students and professors, where fruitful exchanges will naturally occur across the boundaries between specialized disciplines. In fact, we believe that much important research ahead will lie precisely at the boundaries of different traditional disciplines. As a participant, you will thus be exposed to this multidisciplinary atmosphere of technologies through a cutting-edge curriculum composed of a lively combination of coursework, laboratory research and seminars.
Further, EDCE spans an amazingly broad research spectrum: the various laboratories affiliated to the program contain highly active researchers with strong research collaborations within and outside EPFL, offering you the timely education necessary to become a leader in fast-paced, high-tech industries and academia.
The PhD Mobility Award is given by the doctoral program in Civil and Environmental Engineering (EDCE) to encourage good PhD students within the program to go for an academic visit to an external research institution.
